Mellody Hobson, President of Ariel Investment, will be the keynote speaker. Hobson will focus on the topic of women and leadership, her strategies on work/life balance, financial health and overcoming personal challenges. Candace Quinn, a shareholder in the Global Benefits & Compensation Practice at international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP and co-founder and president of WECNY, will also speak. Her remarks will focus on WECNY’s research and the opportunities WECNY provides to develop executive women as leaders.
WECNY is a not-for-profit organization with the mission of accelerating the advancement of women to executive positions of leadership. It creates a platform that brings together corporate executives in an environment that fosters career development and encourages gender equality.
Hobson is a regular financial contributor on ABC’s Good Morning America, a featured columnist in Black Enterprise magazine as well as a spokesperson for both the annual Ariel/Schwab Black Investor Survey and the 2009 Ariel/Hewitt study, “401(k) Plans in Living Color.” Beyond her work at Ariel, Hobson is a director of three public companies: DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.; The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Starbucks Corporation. She also serves on the Investment Company Institute’s board of governors and the SEC Investor Advisory Committee, and is a director of various professional and civic organizations.
