Cedar Falls, IA (Vocus) February 26, 2010
Looking at the weather, it is shaping up to be a grand weekend in Cedar Falls, a great time to get outdoors and spend time in our downtown district, recently chosen by the National Trust for Historic Preservations as one of the Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2010 in the United States. Anyone whose spent time in downtown Cedar Falls will agree that it’s become a shopping and entertainment destination worthy even of a lengthy drive. This historic downtown district has also received national recognition as a Great American Main Street and was selected as a model Iowa Cultural and Entertainment District. Starting tomorrow, Friday February 26, we will roll out the pink carpet and invite women -- one and all -- to enjoy a weekend of shopping, dining, and pampering at the 2nd Annual WOW Convention (“Women’s Outrageous Weekend”).
The WOW Convention is a weekend getaway to shop, dine, drink, enjoy and STAY on Main Street in downtown Cedar Falls on February 26, 27 and 28. Thirty-five participating merchants are sponsoring this year’s event. Throughout the weekend there will be special classes and major discounts for registered guests. Registered guests will pick up their VIP card and goodie bag at a special merchant reception at myVerona, 419 Main St. on Friday evening from 5 until 7 pm. Pre-registration is $20 per girl. The first 150 registered guests will receive a complimentary goodie bag. Registration will continue Saturday morning at the Black Hawk Hotel Lobby, 115 Main St. from 9 am until 10 am with stores opening at 10 am. While downtown retail shops are open to everyone, these special sessions and discounts will be made available only to those registered guests.
The beauty of the weekend is its flexibility. You can stop in for a quick browsing session and grab a bite to eat or you can spend the day, or better yet, grab your gal pals and spend the entire weekend. Two of our finest hotels, the Black Hawk Hotel and Holiday Inn, are getting in on the act by participating with special rates and amenities. But all girls are welcome, regardless of overnight stays. Special classes! Super shopping! Distinctive dining! Exciting entertainment! Fantastic fun! Great memories! You can have it all this weekend in downtown Cedar Falls.
