Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 19, 2009 -- Make Mine Pink, an online women's business cooperative and Web-based shopping site, is sponsoring 18 "hope chests" for girls living in homeless shelters.

Partnering with Enchanted Makeovers, a nationally recognized non-profit organization that transforms shelters for women and girls into beautiful and peaceful spaces, the business women members of Make Mine Pink are raising $3,600 to build hope chests for deprived girls at Vista Maria shelter in Dearborn Heights, MI.

The Enchanted Makeovers' 2009 Vision project is to provide a hope chest for each girl and fill it with items such as handmade linens, inspirational books and toiletries she will need when she leaves. The hope chests will remain permanently in the shelter to be refilled when new families move in. The average stay in the shelter is six months.

"We are proud to help Enchanted Makeovers with this wonderful project," says Joyce Lucas, founder of Make Mine Pink. "Providing hope chests for girls, to be filled with pretty things that they will take with them, is a nurturing act of kindness that reinforces the worth and specialness of the girls who have experienced such hardship in their short lives. We hope it will build their self esteem."

"Make Mine Pink is a perfect partner for Enchanted Makeovers," says Terry Grahl, founder and president. "Joyce has unified like-minded women-in-business who believe in the same values, which includes giving back to the community and helping other women."

The cost of materials to build a 24.5"x 37" hope chest is $200. Make Mine Pink committed to raise the funds to build 18 of the 20 chests needed to complete the project through its Adopt a Hope Chest Program. Two were previously funded. The chests will be completed by August by a volunteer carpenter.

To date, MMP has funded 11 of the 18 chests. All donations must be received by May 30. If you would like to donate, please email Joyce Lucas at info (at) makeminepink (dot) com or visit the Web site.

Make Mine Pink, founded in 2004, provides a unique online networking, support community and joint marketing advantages for 1,700 women business owners, and a premiere shopping and services network for customers. The public forum membership is free, and paid membership subscriptions begins as low as $25/month.
