Sproos, New York City’s leading supplier of headbands and female hair accessories, would like to remind its customers and other women in general of the best methods of taking care of their hair.
“While we specialize in hair accessories for teenage and young adult women, we want to help them always look their best. Winter is coming up, and the change in weather can lead to damaged hair, so we want to make sure women are prepared,” said owner Melissa Matos.
Here are some of the main points Sproos recommends women keep in mind as the seasons change.
- Hair Type
A woman with dry, curly hair has much different needs than a woman with straight, fine hair. One point to keep in mind is to avoid using a hot blow-dryer to dry wet hair. The high heat actually causes hair to stretch more than it should, resulting in damage.
Teens also tend to experience hair that is more oily than normal because of their highly active hormones. Washing more than once per day is okay, but they need to keep in mind not to blow-dry it. It may also work better to use a mild shampoo instead of one designed especially for oily hair.
- Taking Care of Dandruff
No one knows the true cause of dandruff, although some studies are suggesting a type of fungus or inflammation may be the root cause. One effective approach for treating dandruff is to use over-the-counter shampoos that contain zinc, tars, salicylic acid, or selenium sulfide. The scalp should be massaged for at least five minutes. If this doesn’t at least reduce the presence of dandruff, a prescription shampoo may be required.
Sproos wants all women to have their hair look its best. To help women accentuate their hair style, Sproos also offers feather headbands and flower headbands. Younger women interested in quality, affordable hair accessories should visit the company’s website to purchase attractive hair accessories or learn more hair care tips.
Sproos was founded in 2011, two years after Melissa Matos returned from a trip to Tokyo. During the trip, she was able to find quality female hair accessories at a reasonable price. However, upon returning to New York City, she could not locate similar products at similar prices. Sproos was founded to address this market gap, and now serves customers from across the globe.
