Las Vegas Hits the Green Jackpot Saving Money and Water

Share Article

The City of Las Vegas in its continued effort to reduce water consumption as well as costs, recently completed a dramatic comparative study at a local park with Wonder Soil.

At the direction of Mayor Caroline Goodman, the City of Las Vegas conducted a study to find the most water efficient method and material for its parks. Using the same grass seed, 20 thousand square feet was set aside at Floyd Lamb State Park for the study, 10,000 for the conventional method and mix and 10,000 for the Wonder Soil method and mix.

The conventional method needed 200,000 lbs. of mix filling 9 trucks and took about 30 hours to spread. The Wonder Soil method needed only 3000 lbs. of their expanding mix filling ¼ size truck and took about 3 hours to spread, saving about 27 hours of labor, eliminating 3 steps.

In addition to saving time and labor Wonder Soil eliminated the carbon footprint of 8 trucks. After 7 days the difference in grass growth was highly significant and obvious to anyone.

Conventional Soil vs Wonder Soil

On an ongoing basis, the Wonder Soil test site requires up to 50% less water saving additional water, time and money. This study has global implications at a time when water conservation is critical.
