Only 23% of Managers Would Take a Sick Day to Watch England Play in the World Cup

Four years ago, UK job search engine Workcircle surveyed jobseekers to see who would take a sick day to watch England play in the World Cup. Workcircle has run the survey again, with dramatically different results.

UK job search engine Workcircle ran a survey this week asking jobseekers whether they'd take a sick day to watch an England World Cup match. Last World cup most people surveyed said YES. This time it's very different - just 27% said they would take a sickie.

Maybe it's new-found responsibility after the credit crunch, or we've just given up on England playing well. The shift is most startling at the top: last time 93% of managers said they'd bunk off, compared to less than 5% this time.

Interestingly, Workcircle found that the further south you go, the more patriotic the fans - with Milton Keynes the town with the most jobseekers planning on taking a sick day.

And expect your shopping to be disrupted - although 70% of supermarket workers would turn up for work, most warehouse workers wouldn't!
