The weblog functions as an online television station, using viral video generated by workstation users from around the world to illustrate the multitude of cutting-edge end user applications for workstation technology. The site also serves as an information repository for individuals interested in the latest information about HP workstations and supporting technologies.
"We've got an incredible group of customers who want to tell their stories, and workstations.tv is a great way to highlight these successes while encouraging others to get involved," said Jeff Wood, director of product marketing, Workstation Global Business Unit, HP. "I'm continually impressed by the contributions our customers make in developing products and services that shape our lives. I look forward to seeing more workstation users' creativity at work on workstations.tv."
HP will complement the HP workstation customer success videos already posted to the site with feature video footage of the inaugural international FJORG! "iron-animator" competition at SIGGRAPH. Co-sponsored by DreamWorks Animation SKG and AMD, FJORG! features 15 three-person computer graphics animation teams from around the world competing in a 32-hour competition to create the best 15 second or longer animation using HP xw9400 Workstations.
The workstations.tv weblog also will host video coverage of FJORG!, including all of the animations created during the event as well as exclusive interviews with the teams. More information on the FJORG! competition is available at http://www.siggraph.org/s2007/media/releases/release19.html.
Professional animators from Pixar Animation Studios, Industrial Light & Magic, Sony Pictures Imageworks, DreamWorks Animation SKG, as well as the animation director and executive producer of SIGGRAPH 2007's Computer Animation Festival Best of Show will judge the teams' submissions and the winner will be announced on workstations.tv.
Following the launch at SIGGRAPH, workstations.tv will open itself to videos from customers around the world who use HP workstations to design and engineer products and services that transform our every day lives. Visitors to workstations.tv will be encouraged to comment on the posted videos and help build a community of like-minded workstation enthusiasts.
