Killer Guides Ltda Releases World of Warcraft Druid Strategy Guide

Killer Guides releases a strategy guide solely for Druid players in World of Warcraft. The nearly 200-page reference is the 13th strategy guide the company provides for this game. A professional player and freelance author was contracted to keep the guide updated for the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion and the following three years.

Online publishing company Killer Guides Ltda released their latest unofficial World of Warcraft strategy guide on August 24. It's a 178 page reference for druids, one of the nine different classes players can choose in the popular online game. The company offers the World of Warcraft Druid Guide as downloadable e-book to provide druid players with advice on all forms of character advancement.

The newly published guide was written for players who already have a basic understanding of World of Warcraft. Addressing the fierce competition between players for resources and fame, it covers the problems players face in the virtual world. Killer Guide's goal with the guide is to provide money earning opportunities, leveling strategies and advice on duels between different players from a druid's point of view.

Aside from its electronic form and its focus on a single class it is also unusual in that a top-rated active player, freelance writer Scott Campbell, was contracted for the complete life-cycle of the guide. Killer Guides has chosen this setup for the next three years to keep track of the game's development, making the guide for the ever-changing World of Warcraft a work in progress at all times. Scott Campbell explained his participation in the project with "the chance to combine advanced gaming strategies with creative writing". While having written several freely available articles, this is his first commercial World of Warcraft project.

According the Director of Marketing, Lucio Pereira, the maturity of the audience is a key component of Killer Guide's marketing concept "Our goal is to provide guides for people who know the game already. We close the gap between playing a game and mastering it." In regards to contracting a freelancer for the complete sales-cycle of the guide he adds that "regular players do not only expect a detailed guide, but also one that adapts to changes that occur in the game world".

With the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft, "The Burning Crusade", the topic of the first overhaul the guide will receive has also been determined already. "Within 2 weeks after the release of the expansion we want our customers to receive an e-mail with the new strategies," comments Pereira. A contract between the company and the author has already been signed to ensure personal support to all customers till then.

The company currently provides 71 strategy guides for 13 different games. Killer Guides works with independent authors and features a royalty payment system that rewards writers according to the customer ratings their works receive. The company is not sponsored, controlled or affiliated with any game publisher or developer. Since it's inception in February 2006, the company managed to cover 80% of the major US and European online roleplaying games.
