We are completely blown away by the interest, and the stories of how people all over the world have implemented our technology.
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 25, 2012
In just two months the WoundSmart iPhone App has been download an implemented globally bringing the wound care professional a sleek user friendly tool to document and track the progess of their wounds. Dr. Alec Hochstein the "iPodiatrist" and developer of the WoundSmart app has been overwhelmed by inquiries and questions about expanding services for the global wound care market.
Dr. Hochstein states "we are completely blown away by the interest, and the stories of how people all over the world have implemented our technology. From wound care nurses to surgeons to proactive patients taking control and being advocates for their own health, when you see that happening because of something you built the impact is humbling"
Just one place where the app hopes to make a difference is in the diabetes arena. The statistics on the growing number of diabetic patients in the United States and worldwide is staggering. Diabetic wounds remains the number one cause of admission for patients with diabetes. It is currently estimated that in addition to the already 350+ million patients diagnosed with diabetes the amount of patients with pre-diabetes iin the U.S. alone is in the 10s of millions. This will only lead to more diabetic wounds and the devastating sequelae of them including loss of limb and life. The WoundSmart app hopes that through the use of technology, collaboration and the ease of data sharing these wounds can be better dealt with limiting the number of worldwide amputation.
WoundSmart was uploaded to the Apple App store just two months ago ago and has been received with tremendous interest. WoundSmart stands alone, as the only medical app "solely" dedicated to wound documentation, it is full of custom interfaces and user friendly features to assist the wound professional in creating a complete wound encounter document. The app in addition to its wound documentation function also brings a reference section to keep important wound facts and guidelines accessible to the user. WoundSmart also acts as a portal to the wound care community. Using the power of the social network it brings together wound experts from all over the world, to collaborate, and interact on specific wound issues, as well as complicated wound cases.
WoundSmart - The Professional Wound Documentation Tool is available for download in the iTunes App Store. "It is truly in a class of its own when it comes to functionality, elegance, and real life impact on a practitioners work load" says Wound Care Specialist Angela Savage RN, BSN, CWCA, WCC. Nurse Savage states that "it saves me no less than 4 hours a week on documentation and does so in a way that enhances patient outcomes."
In addition to Dr. Hochstein's day to day running of a busy podiatric medical, surgical and wound care practice his plans for the future of the app are ambitious including a cloud based server model, and cross platform syncing that would further revolutionize the way professionals capture and use wound data to enhance the lives of their patients.
