New Jersey ticket broker Select-A-Ticket reports a spike in website traffic related to Wrestlemania XXIX, which is coming to New Jersey in 2013. Clearly establishing that fans from far and wide are already anxious to acquire tickets to the big event. The influx of fans for WrestleMania XXIX to the New York and New Jersey area is also expected to not only boost ticket sales but also the local economies, as evidenced by past Wrestlemania events.
In the past four years, this celebration of all things wrestling has had a $200 million impact on the local economies it's touched. WWE estimates a $62 million impact in April for New York and New Jersey businesses.
Since February 2012, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his arch-nemesis John Cena have promised to be among the many headliners for the WrestleMania XXIX event, a weeklong extravaganza that culiminates on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
World Wrestling Entertainment boss Vince McMahon brought Johnson, Cena, Triple H and other wrestlers along when he announced the 2013 Wrestlemania location alongside New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who called the event "a great day for New Jersey".
This will mark the state's third WrestleMania appearance. "The world-class MetLife Stadium will make it different than ever before,” said Christie.
Those who can secure Wrestlemania tickets to the MetLife Stadium event will be treated to an extravaganza that Johnson promised "will electrify MetLife Stadium like never before."
Though it has not been revealed if Johnson and Cena will face off again or if some other featured matchup is coming, Cena has promised big thrills: "I'm glad you don't have a roof on this building," he said at the press conference, "because we sure would blow it off."
Aside from the MetLife event, the week is filled with star-studded events, from the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Monday Night Raw and a WrestleMania Axxess event to WWE’s interactive fan festival, the WrestleMania Reading Challenge finals; and a pizza party hosted by Cena to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"Our Wrestlemania related traffic has tripled since they announced it will be at MetLife Stadium. That is a good sign for ticket sales. This event has taken on a life of its own with all the related events surrounding it in the week leading up, Wrestlemania now rivals the Super Bowl in some ways. Local businesses will get a nice boost as fans will need a place to stay, places to eat, maybe see a Broadway show and above all else, fans get to see the greatest event in wrestling," says Mark Gibbons of Select-A-Ticket.
