Many of our Wright Profemur clients have allegedly suffered the same types of injures that prompted the Stryker hip recall.
New York, New York (PRWEB) May 12, 2013
The Wright hip lawyers at Bernstein Liebhard LLP are alerting the public to similarities between Wright Profemur hip replacements and the products involved in the recent recall of Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems. Last August, Wright Medical warned that the Stryker recall had the potential to affect sales of the Profemur modular-neck stems.* In a regulatory filing issued on April 30th, Wright reiterated this position, noting that the Stryker hip recall has increased industry focus on the safety of cobalt chrome modular neck products, such as the company’s Profemur hips.**
“Many of our Wright Profemur clients have allegedly suffered the same types of injures that prompted the Stryker hip recall. For that reason, it’s interesting to note the company’s concerns regarding the impact of the Stryker recall on the sales of its Profemur products,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is actively filing Wright hip lawsuits, and continues to offer free legal evaluations to individuals who suffered serious complications, allegedly due to Profemur hip implants, as well as metal-on-metal Wright Conserve hip replacements.
Wright Hip Lawsuits
According to a recent court filing, a settlement in a Wright hip lawsuit involving a Profemur hip replacement was reached in late March, just days before the case was scheduled to go to trial in California federal court. According to a Joint Notice of Settlement filed with the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, on March 20th, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has scheduled a compliance hearing for May 17th. (Tucker, et ux. v. Wright Medical Technology, Inc., et al., No. 4:11-cv-03086)
Court records indicate that at least 40 Wright hip lawsuits involving the Wright Conserve Total Hip Implant System, Conserve Total A-Class Advanced Metal Hip Implant System, and the Conserve Resurfacing System are pending in the Northern District of Georgia. All of the pending Wright Conserve hip replacement lawsuits allege use of the products resulted in the accumulation of excessive metal ions in recipients, many of whom were forced to undergo revision surgery. (In re: Wright Medical Technology, Inc., Conserve Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation -MDL No. 2329) In its April 30th filing, Wright Medical also reported that additional Conserve hip replacement lawsuits had been filed in state court in California, a number of which have been consolidated for pretrial handling pursuant to procedures of California State Judicial Counsel Coordinated Proceedings. **
Individuals who experienced complications related to Wright hip implants, including Wright Profemur hip replacements and Wright Conserve hips, may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering and other damages.
