“A few months ago, we built a fire pit on the beach and it has been attracting a great crowd for sunset cocktails,” Holck said. “We decided it was time to spice things up a bit and offer our guests a selection of hot drinks in every sense of the word."
Rio Grande, Puerto Rico (PRWEB) September 14, 2010
Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, A Wyndham Grand® Resort, now offers an out-of-this-world-spicy cocktail with the introduction of its Fire Pit Bloody Mary, part of a new “Caliente Cocktails” menu created in celebration of the resort’s new, on-site fire pit.
The Fire Pit Bloody Mary’s key ingredient is the fiery Indian bhut jolocia chile pepper. With a ranking of more than one million Scoville units, the pepper has been officially ranked by Guinness World Records as the world’s hottest.
“If you think you’ve already tasted the hottest Bloody Mary in the world, you’re wrong,” said Danna Holck, general manager of Wyndham Rio Mar. “If you’re man—or woman—enough to drink one, we’ll give you a second Fire Pit on us.”
For a mere $10, the Fire Pit Bloody Mary comes with its own fire extinguisher and a guaranteed second round for guests who can take the first one.
In addition to the Fire Pit Bloody Mary, the “Caliente Cocktails” menu also includes an assortment of $10 drinks for the more faint of heart: the Volcano raises temperatures moderately with a concoction of brandy, sweet and sour mix and orange juice; Fire Ball contains a blend of cinnamon schnapps and Tabasco; and the Fire and Ice is a mixture of rum, grenadine, vodka and blue curacao.
“Caliente Cocktail” recipes will be posted on Wyndham Rio Mar's Facebook fan page. Facebook fans will also be invited to share their top picks for hot drinks to be added to the menu.
“A few months ago, we built a fire pit on the beach and it has been attracting a great crowd for sunset cocktails,” Holck said. “We decided it was time to spice things up a bit and offer our guests a selection of hot drinks in every sense of the word.”
Caliente Cocktails are only available at the new fire pit, which is located at Wyndham Rio Mar’s Tiki Grill overlooking the beach. The daily happy hour, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. also features Puerto Rican rum mixes and sangria. Additionally, each Tiki Grill guest is invited to sooth their fiery palettes by sampling an array of delectable “extinguisher” items starting at $5. Savory treats range from homemade hummus and crispy tortilla chips to a zesty citrus marinated seafood platter accompanied by sweet plantains and sizzling S'mores. Regular themed nights by the fire include Latin/Tropical dance lessons, Hawaiian Nights and International Karaoke.
