Each breakdown was meaningful and caused me to embrace my illness and not feel any different than anyone who has diabetes
LONGWOOD, FL (Vocus) June 19, 2010
Raised in an abusive home, separated from her mother at age ten, diagnosed as borderline bi-polar, author Cynthia Rogers struggled for a long time to come to grips with her childhood trauma. It wasn’t until a series of nervous breakdowns that she finally obeyed the voice of God and turned her heart back to Him. After asking God to fill every void in her life, she found that her struggles opened the door for her to gain more wisdom, knowledge, and understanding—allowing her to achieve her greatness and come into the destiny that God had prepared for her. In A Passion for His Presence: My Struggle to Destiny ($15.99, paperback, 1-59781-419-9), her new Xulon Press release, she teaches others to do the same, by illustrating the power of obedience and how to pursue the presence of God.
“I hope that readers will be more compassionate to others who have chemical imbalances and gain a clear understanding of what triggers a person to fall into a deep depression and what opens the doors for attacks that are some times horrendous and hard to recover from,” the author says.
Having grappled with these issues personally, Rogers has emerged as a voice to help others understand people who struggle with a chemical imbalance and to break the silence on the subject. “Each breakdown was meaningful and caused me to embrace my illness and not feel any different than anyone who has diabetes,” she says. “I stopped being in denial and began trying to understand my condition so that I could overcome it [and] share my victories with others.”
