New this summer, Yard Works introduces a Cherry Pine Designer Mulch for Richmond’s residential and commercial gardeners. The dyed, pine bark mulch is more acidic and less susceptible to fungi for healthier plant beds, and breaks down to an excellent soil amendment that master gardeners prefer. Yard Works, a Central Virginia-based landscaping products and services company with three locations in Manakin Sabot, Chesterfield and Powhatan, is the first in the Commonwealth to offer the dyed pine mulch.
“For years, the only mulches that were offered in designer colors, such as red, brown and black, were hardwood mulches or mulches made from recycled pallets,” said Robbie Urbine, Chief Operating Officer of Yard Works, LLC. “Now that the pine mulch is available in a dyed color, for that great color retention we all want, I think we’ll find more and more people using it because of all the great benefits pine has to offer to the plants and soils. Pine also doesn’t produce some of the fungi and mold like other hardwood mulches in chronic wet or shaded areas.”
The Cherry Pine Designer Mulch is priced comparably to the dyed hardwood mulches and is quickly becoming a favorite at Yard Works, despite the early onset of summer-like heat in the Central Virginia region. Mark Landa, owner of Boulevard Flowers Gardens in Colonial Heights, Virginia and commercial client of Yard Works, says his customers are very attracted to the brilliant color and great texture of the dyed pine mulch.
“We’re very pleased with the way it looks and the way it’s holding up,” Landa said. “We’ve seen a lot of interest in it from customers and they’re really drawn to it, not even realizing that it’s pine.”
The Cherry Pine Designer Mulch is now available for pickup, delivery and/or installation at all three Yard Works locations: on Broad Street Road in Manakin Sabot, on Hull Street Road in Chesterfield or on Anderson Highway in Powhatan.
