I love making apps for our national parks and it's an honor to have one for the world’s first national park.
Yarmouth, ME (PRWEB) July 12, 2011
Chimani, LLC announced today it has released its newest app - Chimani Yellowstone National Park - for the iPhone and Android platforms.
The Yellowstone app, an indispensable resource for anyone exploring the first national park in the United States, delivers a 60 minute audio tour of the Grand Loop Road, a high-resolution, custom-designed, GPS-enabled map, hiking guide for the most popular trails in the park, updated ranger led activities, over 50 photos and much more.
Users can view sunset and sunrise times for the most memorable scenic overlooks including Artist’s Point and Lamar Valley, plan hikes, review key safety information, learn about over 300 points of interest and access a complete list of facilities including locations of all the restrooms and picnic areas in the park.
Like the Grand Canyon National Park and Yosemite National Park apps that preceded it, the Yellowstone app boasts a rich and impressive map interface that is custom-made, GPS-enabled, includes every hiking trail in the park, and displays interactive points of interest. Unlike other apps for the park, the map works without the need for a cell phone or data connection and is specifically designed for the mobile app platform.
"Ever since I launched the first national park app, fans have asked for a Yellowstone version. I’m excited to finally offer one for the iPhone and Android at the same high-quality design and great customer support which is found in every Chimani app." says Chimani President, Kerry Gallivan. “I love making apps for our national parks and it's an honor to have one for the world’s first national park.”
Users rave about the ability to follow their progress using the GPS feature, even when cell coverage fails or isn't available at all. "Like all the features of this app, you don't need cell access to unleash its full capabilities. Whether you are simply trying to find the closest restroom, reading more about Puff ’n Stuff geyser, or taking the audio tour of The Grand Loop Road (with over 60 minutes of professionally narrated material), you'll always be able to enjoy the full experience of the app," says Gallivan.
The new iPhone app can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes App Store and the Android version from the Android Marketplace (keyword: "chimani"). The iPhone app is free and the Android version is only 99 cents until July 17. After that, both versions will sell for the regular price of $9.99.
The Yellowstone National Park app is the latest in a series of apps by Chimani, including the National Parks “virtual passport”, Acadia National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park, Zion National Park and the Cape Cod National Seashore. All are available in Android versions as well as the original iPhone versions.
