YESpay International is proud to announce the success of its First Annual Partner Event held on the 9th November 2010 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

More than 100 delegates representing IT integrators, retailers, QSAs and acquiring banks gathered at Lord’s Cricket Ground last week to hear from an array of external speakers from key organisations and discuss the trends and latest developments currently affecting retailing and the payments industry. The theme of the event was ‘Customer Value Add’, and the topics discussed ranged from PCI-DSS requirements and how they affect retailers in their decisions, NFC technology wave of adoption in the retail industry, the multi-channel challenge that retailers are facing and the trends, innovations and developments in the hospitality industry and the impact of payments.

Michael Dreves Beier, Key Account Manager at FortConsult gave a QSA’s perspective on PCI-DSS compliance. He emphasised the need to protect cardholder data and that new security proposals such as Point-to-Point encryption solutions significantly help with this, however the standards have not been fully defined by the PCI Council. In fact he suggested not to rush into P2PE solutions, rather utilise PCI-DSS certified solutions and follow the security guidelines published by Visa.

Bertrand Moussel, EVP Sales at Inside Contactless discussed the impact of NFC in the retail industry and the explosion of the smart phones. These devices will reshape the way the consumers will interact with the cloud and/or with the “Brick & mortar” world. In fact, NFC-based smart handsets will bridge seamlessly the two worlds enabling a fast and consumer driven payment mechanism.

Nigel Lowrie, CTO at ITIM gave his insight on multi-channel retailing. Retailers are seeing margins squeezed from both ends with loss of sales to the internet as well as increased costs from the supply chain. They are experiencing growth under 5% and see e-tailers with growth often pushing 25% or more. So is bolting on e-tail the answer? Nigel’s view is that the answer lines in multi-channel retailing and it is time for retailers to embrace the multi-channel model.

Nigel Allan, Director of Business Development EMEA, discussed how the impact of integrated payment technology from Agilysys struck a real chord, sharing the real issues associated with cash and the key benefits being experienced by their clients in hospitality. It is predicted that contactless technology will become the true cashless solution of choice.

Senior executives in YESpay gave a thought leadership opinion of the payments industry and how it has evolved. Whilst EMV Chip and PIN and PCI-DSS remain central topics for merchants, there is a significant move to outsourced managed payment service providers offering fully certified and accredited solutions. In addition, value added services including gift card, mobile payments, DCC and contactless are going to become vital to retailers to increase sales and customer affinity. It’s all about customer value add!

Rohit Patni, EVP Sales & Marketing at YESpay International comments ‘‘we are delighted with the success of our First Partner Event, the number of delegates, the quality of the presentations and the engagement of the audience in the discussions that followed; the feedback from our partners has been really excellent. YESpay confirmed its position as an industry leader and delivered a successful event presenting the issues that affect retailers as well as the framework, the technology and the trends that are shaping the future of payments and retailing’’.
