YogaVibes.com continues to target the intersection of athletics and yoga with 33 new online yoga videos designed to elevate customers’ golf game.
Yoga is an effective cross-training method for golfers, as both an athletic and mental practice. Professional golfers such as Vinjay Singh, Brad Faxon, Stewart Cink, Aaron Baddeley, Juli Inkster, Betsy King and Gary Player practice yoga to improve their game.
“YogaVibes is thrilled to provide continued targeted yoga offerings for the diversity of yoga practitioners,” said company founder, Brian Ratté. “Yoga has tremendous benefits in terms of flexibility and core strength, which can improve performance on the golf course and in other sports.”
Building on the success of her books and Yoga for Golfers DVDs, Katherine Roberts has chosen YogaVibes to distribute her unique approach to golf conditioning online. A fitness expert and a regular contributor for The Golf Channel, Roberts blends Western biomechanical research and Eastern mind/body conditioning for performance.
“The mission of Yoga for Golfers is to bring yoga to a demographic of students that would not normally walk into a yoga studio—golfers,” Roberts said. “This partnership with YogaVibes gives me the tools to reach those students and bring them the gift of better golf and health through these online yoga offerings."
Roberts’ Yoga for Golfers videos are the latest addition to YogaVibes library of online yoga classes appealing to athletes.
Partnering instructors specializing in yoga for athletes include Sage Rountree, author of The Athlete’s Guide to Yoga: An Integrated Approach to Strength, Flexibility, and Focus and The Athlete’s Pocket Guide to Yoga: 50 Routines for Flexibility, Balance and Focus, and Kimberly Fowler, creator of the trademarked YOGA FOR ATHLETES system.
Fowler’s YOGA FOR ATHLETES DVD can be streamed on YogaVibes.com.
“I like innovative companies like YogaVibes that see there are a lot of different types of people who practice yoga and different styles of yoga,” Fowler said. “Not everyone is ‘earthy crunchy’ and wants to go off and sit on a mountain and chant.”
Fowler plans to film exclusive classes for the Web site at her Venice, Calif. studio in the coming months.
In addition to online distribution of select DVDs, the majority of YogaVibes’ online yoga classes are filmed live on location. Viewers can try a variety of yoga styles, such as Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Anusara, and broaden their exposure to teachers around the world.
Along with its for-sale classes, YogaVibes.com offers free instructional short videos taught by its partnering teachers that allow viewers to learn the intricacies of a specific yoga pose or deepen their understanding of related topics.
