Yorba Linda homeowners can gain a wealth of financial information by attending the event on Thursday, May 2.

Health care and tax changes set to take place this Fall will affect Orange County homeowners of all generations.

Tax-filing season may be in the rearview for most Orange County homeowners, but in an area so full of socially active minds who care about the welfare of their beloved Yorba Linda community, a chance to discuss heady, progressive ideas while also mingling with friends and neighbors is always a welcome event—especially when the gathering is being held in the elegant banquet room of the Yorba Linda Country Club and is completely free.

This Thursday, May 2, at the event “A Mixer for People with Purpose,” the Yorba Linda community will be treated to a financially informative talk by Daren Gress, owner of Gress Tax Services in Orange, California. Gress specializes in helping seniors with tax strategies and preparation, and will be illuminating on very important health care and tax changes set to take place this Fall that will affect Yorba Linda homeowners of all generations.

In addition to Gress’ presentation, all area business owners are encouraged to bring marketing materials and speak with their fellow Yorba Linda neighbors and professional acquaintances, as the event is just as much a platform for relaxed networking and socializing—appetizers and a cash bar are included—as it is a state-of-the-union on major, looming national tax initiatives. Oh, and let’s not forget that there’s going to be some terrific door prizes being handed out, including the opportunity for a foursome to play the splendid 18 holes at the Yorba Linda Country Club for free!

As for the informative presentation by Gress, he’ll be talking about what Yorba Linda community members stand to gain from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. This talk could prove especially useful to small business owners in the area who are looking to use the program to help cover themselves and their employees when the act becomes more widely available to small business owners and employees without healthcare coverage through their employer.

Attendees can also expect Gress to discuss another pending government initiative that will begin to affect Yorba Linda professionals—especially couples whose combined earnings are over $250,000 a year and individuals who earn over $200,000 a year. This second topic of Gress’ is the so-called “3.8 percent Medicare Surtax” that will begin affecting the pocketbooks of earners in the aforementioned income brackets starting this Fall.

So whether attendees want to be socially informed in a way that will help save thousands on taxes next season, or because they’d like to spread the word of a Yorba Linda business, or simply because they’d like to get to know their neighbors better and do so in a luxurious setting, this Thursday’s event promises to satisfy many desires. And don’t forget to stop by and say hello to Yorba Linda’s premier real estate agent, Edie Israel, who will be on hand as one of the event’s sponsors and would love to share information on some of the great real estate opportunities in the bustling housing economy of Yorba Linda.
