YouMail, Inc. the mobile industry's premier consumer voicemail service, and GotVoice, the voice messaging company, today jointly announced a strategic agreement aimed at improving their service offerings and their revenues. As part of the agreement, YouMail will acquire the existing users of the free GotVoiceLite service, and will license GotVoice's patented and patent-pending G2 communications platform to expand YouMail's free and premium service capabilities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Through its partnership with GotVoice, YouMail will immediately increase the size of its core user base and provide services to users whose wireless carriers don't traditionally support conditional call forwarding. By leveraging GotVoice's G2 platform for voicemail aggregation and transformation, YouMail can focus on providing the industry's best consumer voicemail experience, while leveraging GotVoice's business-class voicemail-to-text transformation services.
"Partnering with GotVoice will allow us to accelerate our path to scale and profitability by growing our audience and rolling out exciting new features and services more rapidly," said Alex Quilici, YouMail's CEO. "We're very pleased to be working with GotVoice and leveraging their proven technology platform."
"This collaboration is advantageous for both companies and we're thrilled to be affiliated with YouMail," said Curt Blake, CEO, GotVoice, Inc. "It's a testament to our technology that another significant consumer-facing company has chosen our market-leading white label platform for their voicemail transcription and unification needs."
YouMail provides a free, cell phone voicemail service that allows every consumer to completely customize their voicemail experience, significantly increasing their productivity. YouMail users can retrieve their voicemail online, in e-mail, on their mobile phones, or by calling in, and choose to listen or read their messages. YouMail users can also determine which callers get which greetings and when, how they are notified about voicemail, which callers can leave voicemail and even how voicemails are picked up - in e-mail, online, or over the phone. The service is being adopted rapidly by consumers, and the company has a growing set of distribution partnerships with wireless carriers. YouMail, Inc., headquartered in Aliso Viejo, CA, was founded in January, 2007. The company is backed by Vantage Point Venture Partners and Tech Coast Angels.
