Zambia Mission Fund named Klay Bartee of Searcy Arkansas as acting board chairman today during the semi-annual board meeting held on the campus of Harding University. Zambia Mission Fund is preparing for its upcoming Tree of Mercy Benefit Event which will include the premier showing of NAWONA: The Way You See, a film that tells the uplifting story of a woman who regained her sight as a result of eye surgery during Zambia Medical Mission 2011.

Klay Bartee of Searcy Arkansas was named acting chairman of Zambia Mission Fund on Sepember 10, 2011 at the semi-annual board meeting. Bartee received his B.A. in education and his M.Ed and MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Harding University. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychology 100 and a counselor at Harding University. He is a member of both the Arkansas Athletic Association (AAA) and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). He and his wife Lisa have three children, Kris, Kasey, and Kallie.

Bartee will serve until the Zambia Mission Fund Executive Committee chooses a new chairperson. Bartee replaces Phil Watson of Edmond Oklahoma who joined the board as chairman in 1984. Watson and his wife Mary "have served the board with honor" according to ZambIa Mission Fund Stateside Superintendent Dr. Richard Prather. "Phil came on the board at a time when the mission was facing some great difficulties, and guided the board to stability and growth."

"Phil and Mary have a devoted a large portion of their lives to serving Zambia Mission Fund, and have touched the lives of many people as a result," according to Dr. K.B. Massingill, Co-Director of the group's annual Zambia Medical Mission trip and president of Franchise Thinking in Abilene, Texas. Massingill said "Watson was known for pronouncing 'that will be the order' after successful board motions."

James Crowder, from Edmond Oklahoma and Zambia Mission Secretary took a humorous jab at Watson by saying "I don't think people recognize the suffering I have endured having to ride from Oklahoma to Arkansas for board meetings twice per year (with Phil), and having to hear him pontificate about the Arkansas Razorsbacks."

"All I did that first year was raise money," according to Watson. His friend Chuck Gatton, from Gainsville Florida who joined the board during the same meeting that Watson became chairman said "We are in a lot better shape in most ways than we were during that first year thanks to Phil, and it is certainly a lot more fun." The board officially honored the Watsons during the meeting for their years of servant leadership.
