New York, NY (PRWEB) August 08, 2012
Emerging from the highly competitive and cutthroat space of the New York City independent rock scene is the band Zindagi. Zindagi has been selected to play a free NYC Parks Department sponsored show at Tompkins Square Park on Saturday August 25th, 2012 from 3pm to 6pm.
“It is both gratifying and humbling to be chosen by the city parks department to play in such a great place as Tompkins Square Park. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share our music with all who come and listen.” - Omar Brown
Zindagi will be featuring a set list of popular originals such as “Desert Rose”, “In Situ” and “Take Your Blues”. The band will also be debuting several new tunes. “Many of our songs relate to the common struggles of life, work, love and living. Our works are very lyrical and story driven, something that I personally miss from the majority of today’s music. But in the end, we just want to rock the house.” - Michael Reiss
The show will be located at the south end of the park closest to 7th street. Show updates and information can be found at http://www.zindagiband.com/events. This event is weather dependent. Tompkins Square park is located in Manhattan’s east village between Ave A and B, East 7th st. to E 10th st. and is accessible by subways L,6,and F.
Zindagi was formed in 2009 from musical talents of Michael Reiss, Omar Brown, David Erwin, Gerson Fernandes, and David Fix. For almost 3 years, the 5 piece rock outfit has written over 40 songs and can be found playing their rock, blues, jams, and jazz tunes all around New York City’s top venues. Zindagi pronounced Zin-tha-gee is a hindi word not uncommon to eastern cultures roughly translated meaning “life” or “that’s life”. Zindagi is a proud supporter and fundraiser of Kiva.org, an organization that supports communities through micro-loan financing. After a successful 2011 benefit show Rock & Effect, Zindagi has made 75+ micro-loans to small business entrepreneurs around the world.
