More Boomers Choose to Stay Active with New York Zipline Adventure Tours

Now that the kids are out of the house and retirement is looming, an entire generation of Baby Boomers is taking flight and seeking activities like ziplining for a thrilling experience.

Guests gear up for a challenge on the Adventure Tower at Hunter Mountain

While the Mid Mountain Tour and Adventure Tower are both great introductions for newcomers, we’ve seen many Baby Boomers opting for the SkyRider Tour. They come with the mentality ‘go big or go home’ and can’t resist the lure of a high speed adventure.

As more mountains add zipline tours to their repertoire, Boomers will find the ultimate zipline adventure in the Catskill Mountains on North America’s longest zipline tour, the SkyRider, which sends Boomers soaring down 4.6 miles of dual ziplines at speeds close to 50 miles an hour. Operated by New York Zipline Adventure Tours (http://www.ziplinenewyork.com), the company has seen more than 12,000 visitors traverse the forest canopy since opening three new courses in the Catskills last year.

“Between our three courses there is definitely something for everyone at every thrill level. Whether you’re looking for something mild or something extremely wild, each of our courses contains multiple ziplines and challenge elements designed to create a different experience for each guest,” said Bradd Morse, Partner in New York Zipline Adventures. “While the Mid Mountain Tour and Adventure Tower are both great introductions for newcomers, we’ve seen many Baby Boomers opting for the SkyRider Tour. They come with the mentality ‘go big or go home’ and can’t resist the lure of a high speed adventure.”

With its longest line extending 3,200 feet and as high as 600 feet, the SkyRider delivers on its promise of providing the ultimate thrill. Containing more than 4.6 miles of 5 dual ziplines and suspension bridges each tour begins with a chair lift ride or off-road trek to the top of Hunter Mountain. From the summit, riders will make their way to the base of the mountain soaring over the tree tops for a bird’s eye view of the forest below.

Tours start at $89 and reservations are strongly recommended due to high demand and to avoid any wait. New York Zipline Adventure Tours is located 2 hours north of New York City and open daily from 9 am to 4 pm.
