        <![CDATA[  <P>Photoluminescent  egress signs and markings must have current approved Materials Equipment and Acceptance (MEA) numbers to  meet the Local Law 26 code requirements. These LL26 codes were enacted by the New York City Council in conjunction with the NYC Dept. of Buildings.They were derived from the World Trade Center (WTC) Building Code Task Force findings that identified benefits of safety markings to create clear exit pathways for emergency evacuations that saved many lives during the 9/11 tragedy as well as lessons learned from the blackout of August 14, 2003.
