Global enterprise solutions provider Cedar and worldwide business centre operator Regus recently formed a partnership to implement their PeopleSoft HR system HRMS 7.5, designed to manage future HR growth challenges.

Global enterprise solutions provider Cedar and worldwide business centre operator Regus recently formed a partnership to implement their PeopleSoft HR system HRMS 7.5, designed to manage future HR growth challenges.

“Without Cedar we would not have implemented Peoplesoft HR within the aggressive timescale planned and with existing resources,” said Peters.

This demonstrated that not only was Cedar able to deliver within a very demanding deadline, but also within budget.

Many other benefits yielded from the implementation of the PeopleSoft product included a much more streamlined and more paper free environment, a substantial reduction of data duplication, an improvement in general efficiency, and a reduction of HR overheads.

Again Regus summed up the excellent working relationship Cedar and Regus established: “Regus HR philosophy is that it should bridge the gap between the profit plan and the Regus team exceeding it. Therefore its HR system needed to be easy to use, pragmatic and allow for rapid growth. It needed to be real-time and accurate in order to maximise and direct management action.

Regus is in 50 countries and this posed Cedar a further challenge. In order to manage this factor it was essential that Cedar provided Regus with the ability to empower its employees to use and manage the HR system themselves, all via the PeopleSoft design, now know as Self-Service.

Cedar’s impeccable track record in implementing similar projects proved that first hand experience was vital in both the design and rapid roll-out of the PeopleSoft system. Cedar provided experienced consultants and excellent project management.

As Francesca Peters, Regus’ group HR director stated: “Cedar provided invaluable knowledge transfer of the PeopleSoft product during the implementation phases. For Regus, it is extremely important to become self sufficient in maintaining and developing our systems as soon as possible.”

Time was of the essence in this case; having a track record of delivering under tight time constraints was one of the major factors leading to Regus choosing Cedar.

With such a challenging set of objectives there were issues that needed to be solved along the way.

First, Regus were buying into a system that required processes, procedures and consistency when the company prefers an entrepreneurial culture.

The global nature of Regus required a system configured for 45 countries to be able to input regional and local information. This entailed a lot of communication / requests for information out to the end users, so their input was vital to the success of the project.

These problems were quickly overcome using a combination of communication techniques. A monthly HR bulletin, regular news updates, careful change management, promoting PeopleSoft to the in house community and selling the obvious benefits to employees, all contributed to the ironing out of any initial teething problems.
