Richmond BC,Canada, January 2002: Richmond, BC,Canada, March 2002: Nikolay Yelizarov Reg. Acupuncturist, MD (Russia) offers patients a new and effective treatment for muscle- strain injuries such as backaches, shoulder, neck and forearm injuries and non-traumatic carpal tunnel syndrome.

The complete treatment program is named M.O.N.E.S. (Myotome, Osteotome, Neurotome Electrical Stimulation). The program is based on believe that MSI/RSi is usually long term injury which affect our body on three levels--muscle, vertebra, nerve. Therefore a treatment must be proveded for all three levels.

Myotome(Electrical IntraMuscular) Stimulation is based on electrical intramuscular stimulation that uses lower motor neurons to twitch the whole injured muscle. The treatment eliminates intramuscular edema, which cause the neuropathic pain. After a very few treatments blood circulation and regeneration process in the injured muscle and muscle functionality is restored to the normal level. Unlike the other MSI treatments, the new treatment provides long-term relief from neck and shoulder pain, or backache after 4-5 sessions.

The treatment is equally effective for muscle strain and repetitive strain injuries, for acute and chronic MSI conditions. It eliminates the problem and does not have the side effects of anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxant medications. The treatment can be recommended to everyone, only patients with a history of heart problems may need additional consideration. In addition, this treatment can be combined with active rehabilitation programs and physiotherapy.

“For the last few years, I have focused my practice on treating muscle strain injuries (MSI). Our society suffers from MSI and MSI related problems more than we may think. MSI decreases the quality of life and work”, says Dr.Yelizarov. “In different degree the work related MSI affects every professional computer user, and most health care, service and construction workers suffer from MSI. According to WCB of BC 2000 annual statistics report, work related strain injuries accounted for 53% of total number of short and long term disability claims. MSI is expensive to treat. For example, a back strain claim has an average indemnity period of 41.4 days and costs $6716 CAD per person! I offer the public and employers an inexpensive way of increasing people productivity, efficiency and over all well-being.”
