Makor is offering one of its best-selling workshops, Nancy Ancowitz’s "Self-Promotion for Introverts" on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The class provides tips, tools, and exercises to help introverted people market themselves.

"New York has many talented, introverted people who need help getting noticed in a very competitive town," said workshop creator Nancy Ancowitz, an established business communication coach and a director of the International Coach Federation-NYC. "Self-promotion gets a bad rap because it’s often associated with pushy or obnoxious sales tactics. I prefer to approach it as strategies and techniques to help my students attract the people and organizations who need their products or services.”

During the workshop, Ancowitz teaches people to harness their strengths, make a plan, set goals, and take action. She does this through exercises that counter their negative self-talk, help them reconnect with and articulate their strengths, and put them in the shoes of the prospective clients and employers.

One out of two people are introverts, and their ranks include Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Katherine Graham, Bill Gates, Steve Martin, and Laura Bush. "Introverts have special needs," says Ms. Ancowitz, herself a very sociable introvert. "We often need to think things over rather than just blurt out answers. And we recharge our batteries during our much-needed quiet time. But that doesn't mean that we have to be reclusive."

"Introverts are often undervalued and overlooked," says Dr. Elliott Rabbin, education director, Makor. “We are delighted to offer this course again to help introverts use their natural advantages to get the opportunities they deserve."
