Leading South Florida Rehabilitative Health Services renames itself Healis, and brands existing health operations under Healis Umbrella: Healis Rehabilitation Center, Healis The ChildrenÂ?s Clinic, Healis Listening and Learning Center, Healis Fitness Center, and Healis Montessori Center.

South Dade Rehab and The Children’s Clinic have been renamed Healis and Healis The Children’s Clinic, announced Heather Attong, Executive Director, Healis. South Dade Rehab, now renamed Healis, continues to offer comprehensive services for pediatric and adult patients focusing on therapeutic intervention of various neurological, orthopedic and developmental disorders. South Dade Rehab was founded in 1999 by Heather Attong and Lisa Galvez.


In order to better serve the growing and diverse needs of its patients as well as doctors, therapists and hospitals throughout Florida, South Dade Rehab has embarked upon a branding and marketing program to better communicate its services. All of South Dade Rehab’s lines of business including The Children’s Clinic will be under the Healis branded umbrella, as follows:

•    Healis Rehabilitation Center

Encompasses South Dade, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay and Kissimmee locations and extended homebound services

•    Healis The Children’s Clinic

Offers comprehensive pediatric services including Physical, occupational and speech therapy, hippotherapy, aquatic therapy, Sensory Integration and Praxis testing, orthotic and wheelchair evaluations, developmental screenings.

•    Healis Listening and Learning Center

Pragmatus Listening and Learning Center dedicated to providing advanced therapeutic methods and cognitive interventions to help patients overcome communication, behavioral and learning difficulties.

•    Healis Fitness Center (coming in 2005)

Full fitness memberships including wellness programs, pilates rehabilitation, Power Plate Vibration Technology

•    Healis Montessori Center (coming in 2005)

In the heart of Palmetto Bay surrounded by an 80 acre Hammock preserve, your child can attend preschool from birth to 5 years old with Montessori lessons.

Healis (pronounced heal-IS) encompasses the root meaning for holistic healing and learning and is also derived from the names of South Dade Rehab’s founders Heather Attong and Lisa Galvez.

New Miami Lakes Office:

Healis has opened a new 4100 square foot healing and rehabilitation center in Miami Lakes, Florida, located at 7735 NW 146 Street, Suite 100, Miami Lakes, FL 33016.

The Miami Lakes Healis center will encompass a Healis Rehabilitation Center, Healis The Children’s Clinic and a Healis Executive Fitness Center.

“The Miami Lakes office will focus on bringing innovative healing and therapeutic modalities to the area as well as delivering first class services that Healis is known for in South Dade,” said Lisa Galvez, Administrative Director, Healis.

The Healis Rehabilitation Center in Miami Lakes has innovative European healing and rehabilitative modalities including the Power Plate, an advanced vibration technology used by professional sports teams for conditioning as well as therapists for applications for balance, circulation and bone density.

“Our Healis Listening and learning Center in the Miami Lakes office is the only approved Pragmatus center in Florida and is based on the European model of working with autistic and other learning disabled children.”

The Healis Executive Fitness Center will be open for a limited membership to state of the art machines, technology and licensed physical therapists to consult with at any time.
