New Blog Looks to Rewrite History

Paul Kekai Manansala examines how an ancient trade network of people called "Nusantao" by archaeologist Wilhelm Solheim influenced the world of yesterday and today.

"Quests of the Dragon and Bird Clan" ( may look at first like a Pacific Rim version of the Da Vinci Code and Holy Blood, Holy Grail. However, blog author Paul Kekai Manansala believes the evidence is on his side.

"In fact," said Manansala, "The Holy Grail is not the chalice used by Jesus at all, but a tektite, a fragment of a meteorite, from Southeast Asia."

"If you read Holy Blood, Holy Grail and found it convincing, then the evidence that I've compiled is in most cases overwhelming."

Manansala does concede that some of his contentions involve "native" understanding and interpretation of the evidence. "There are traditions that are handed down, not by books and other manuscripts, but by direct transmission," said Manansala, "I have interpreted some obscure items from an indigenous viewpoint."

The new blog examines a vast ancient trade network started by seafaring Malayo-Polynesian speakers whom archaeologist Wilhelm Solheim calls Nusantao "the people of the islands." Following the path of Stephen Oppenheimer's book Eden in the East, the author believes the Nusantao traveled great distances to extend their network.

"There was a competition between clans, not only economic in nature, but also spiritual," said Manansala. "The ensuing struggle greatly influenced the world of the past and the world of today. And there are even many who unknowingly reference this struggle in their vision of the world's future."
