Silanis Technology, the market leader in automating business approval processes, announced today that the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has expanded its use of electronic signatures to all 3,100 employees with an enterprise license of SilanisÂ ApproveIt Desktop software. KDOT has been using SilanisÂ electronic approval technology over the past five years for specific business processes to streamline the completion of userID requests, construction project authorizations, travel requests, access permits and other business forms.
KDOT incorporated electronic signatures as a key element of their Records and Workflow Management (RWM) project, a department-wide initiative that combines electronic forms, electronic signatures, workflow, document management, imaging and systems integration to create a common framework for the automation of workflows. The RWM project has already delivered significant results for KDOT, including major productivity improvement, reduction in storage space, elimination of faxing, a significant reduction in redundant data entry, and cost avoidance for printing, copying and microfilming.

The DepartmentÂs expansion to an enterprise license now enables KDOT to use electronic signatures for additional applications such as new hires, and employee time reporting, as well as expanding line of business applications like environmental permit processing.

In addition to expanded use of ApproveIt, KDOT will also deploy Interlink ePads, electronic signature capture devices, to all remote KDOT offices within the state. This hardware, combined with ApproveIt will enable new employees to sign documents in real-time and complete the new hire process electronically. New hires will be presented with a variety of forms, including the W-4 and the I-9, to review, and sign electronically, kick-starting the creation of an electronic employee file, that will be securely maintained and managed electronically.
