Oztion - Local Site to Rival eBay

Oztion is a new Australian online auction site which is set to rival the giant competitor eBay. Oztion was launched on the 1st January 2005 by two local Melbourne guys who thought Australians needed a cheaper, fairer and easier alternative to selling and buying goods online.

M.D. Philip Druce said “Sellers are paying too much in fees and are looking for alternative auction sites to list their items.” Oztion has said their will be no listing fees, but rather, just a small sale fee when items sell.”

During the first 3 months of operating, OZtion has been listening to its users and implemented significant changes to the site in order to provide a site that Australians want. Oztion’s Chief Technical Officer, Kelvin Yip stated, “In order to succeed, we must provide a site our users want, we listen to them and will continue to do so.”

OZtion.com.au has grown from 30 members and 76 selling items in its first week, to over 1000 members and 5000 items selling today (7 weeks) without any advertising. Philip Druce said “We wanted to get the site perfect before doing any advertising. We are satisfied the site is now ready, over 700 items have been sold, the hardware and systems are in place, so we can now start to let Australians know about Oztion.”

Oztion’s high quality of service and content has driven these results as can be seen from the user feedback. Kelvin Yip said “Feedback from users clearly shows that the main reasons people are choosing Oztion are; quality of the site, customer service, and low fees”.

Oztion provides Australians with a new online auction site that has all the features, but without all the fees.
