Narrowstep, the TV on the Internet Company, have launched the World's first CityTV Glasgow.TV at the National Association of Broadcasters in Las Vegas

Narrowstep, the TV on the Internet Company, have launched - the world’s first city produced, 24/7 broadband television channel, at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). has been created to showcase Glasgow as an exciting and capable event venue and the perfect tourist destination. The new broadband channel will broadcast international events from the city, carry advertising and act as an information source for overseas visitors and ex-pats.

“ is the perfect way to bring our city to life and offer people around the world a chance to see it first hand.” said Glasgow City Councillor, Alex Mosson. “It acts as a good advertising tool, is state-of-the-art technology and we are proud that we are the first city to do this.”

Narrowstep’s CEO, Iolo Jones, elaborated, “We’re delighted to launch on the TelVOS™ operating system, used to power our popular TV Station in a Box service. Both will be available for license at NAB.”

Narrowstep’s channels offer 24 hour 7 day a week viewing with the option of scheduled programs, highlights and video on demand to anyone in the world with a broadband connection. Current footage on includes: the Fresh ‘n’ Low Great Scottish Run, the Redbull Railstorm snowboarding competition, the World Pipe Band Championships and the launch of the Glasgow Clipper yacht which will take part in the Clipper around the World Race later this year.

Glasgow is the first channel to launch on the ‘CityTV’ programme, using the platform to build and deliver a television station for a city over the internet to millions of viewers worldwide. From a central console all elements of the system can be controlled, including programming, scheduling, advertising insertion, pay per view events and statistical analysis.
