Jonathon Trent is a Los Angeles native who moved to Malibu when he was ten years old. He attended Malibu high school where he was quarterback on the football team, as well as a member of the track, wrestling and tennis teams and an avid surfer. After being cast as McMurphy in the school production of ÂOne Flew Over the CuckooÂs Nest Jonathon decided that he wanted to focus his energies on acting. Ryan Carroll, President of Alpine Pictures, has expressed ÂWe are very excited to have this young talent as part of our cast and added ÂWe are also lucky to grab him now, before he explodes and tops the Hollywood A-list.Â
His first major role was Ted, in the feature film ÂSmile which also stars Mika Boorem, Linda Hamilton, Sean Astin, Beau Bridges and Cheri Oteri. In addition to the excitement of working with such an amazing cast, the film was shot in Mainland China and gave Jonathon his first opportunity to travel the world. ÂSmile is currently playing in theatres throughout California, and is going into wide release later in the spring. Jonathon also stars in the pilot episode of the new Fox Series ÂThe Inside which will debut in 2005. Most recently he had a lead role in Q. Allan BrockaÂs new film ÂBoy Culture which was filmed in Seattle.
Jonathon is currently filming the lead role in a feature film called ÂPray for MorningÂ.
In Alpine Pictures "Love is the Drug", Jonathon Trent will be portraying Troy Daniels, the boyfriend of Sara Weller (Lizzy Caplan; Mean Girls, Orange County) and is the striking and magnetic member of a tight-knit circle of high school friends on the verge of college. Troy is pressured by his love for Sarah, and the wanderlust dreams young love brings, and the responsibilities and pressures his parents place on him to attend college and attain success in business. Into this maelstrom enters Jonah Brand, a loner, whose infatuation with Sara creates further conflict in TroyÂs life--conflict which leads to a disquieting ending.
"Love is the Drug", written by Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape Fear, The Glass House), begins filming in Southern California on April 25th, with up-and-comer Elliott Lester at the helm.
Casting Directors Anne McCarthy and Jay Scully of Engine, helped negotiate the terms of TrentÂs contract with Nina Kether Axelrod (President, Rocky Mountain Talent Pool), his agent Joel Dean at Talent Works, and Alpine Pictures, Inc.
