Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) April 24, 2005
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) took home two awards from Thursday evening's 2005 Image Awards, an annual competition sponsored by the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.
Image Awards are given to companies that exhibit and employ comprehensive public relations projects that meet the highest standards of excellence in four components of PR programming: research, planning, execution and evaluation. Winning entries must meet the highest standards of performance in the profession.
An Image Award is the highest level of award given in an individual category and an Award of Distinction meets the judges' standard of excellence.
In the printed tool category, KUA received an Image Award for its 2004 Osceola Hurricane Handbook. The 36-page guide contained information on hurricanes and floods as well as emergency telephone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and hurricane tracking chart.
In the annual report category, KUA received an Award of Distinction for its 2004 annual report. The report -- titled "Beyond Measure" -- featured a financial summary of 2004 as well as a behind-the-scenes narrative on the 2004 hurricane season and how the utility survived and thrived during the most devastating seven weeks in its history.
KUA has earned 167 local, state, national and international communication awards for public relations programs, events and publications since 1995.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
