Mamapalooza, an event, which celebrates Moms in Music and the Arts, is making its debut in the San Francisco Bay Area this May 13th, 14th and 15th! This May, in cities across America, Moms are stepping out and onto the stage: The Fourth Annual MAMAPALOOZA presents singer-songwriters, rockers, poets, craftspeople and comics laughing, singing and stomping their way out of the kitchen and into your hearts. The SF events are being coordinated by local Rockin Moms, Tiffany Petrossi (San Jose) and Emily Lord (San Francisco).
With eight cities and counting, the Women of MAMAPALOOZA are poised to celebrate new ways of incorporating creativity and song into one of the more challenging jobs women face; The role of mother. Founded by Joy Rose of ÂHousewives On ProzacÂ, MAMAPALOOZA 2005 (http://www.mamapalooza.com) promises to be the largest presentation of the recently publicized Mom-Rock movement in America. With alliances in New York, Nashville, Washington DC, Detroit, San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago and Dallas, The Women Of MAMAPALOOZA are taking to stages, poetry jams and concert halls. A wide array of talented mothers and others are singing songs that reflect every musical genre, from pop to punk to folk.
Tiffany Petrossi (http://www.tiffanypetrossi.com), who just released her second album, ÂSweet Groove, (2005 Esmeralda Records) is the Rockin' Mama of two, and is thrilled to be performing at two of the SF events (Slims and The Little Fox). ÂThe response has been amazing! There are so many moms in the arts and music wanting to participate and come out to support the event, exclaims, Tiffany. Petrossi, the founder of Rockin Moms, (http://www.rockinmoms.com), is no stranger to the mom rock movement and looks forward to sharing the stage with other Rockin Moms this May. Tiffany Petrossi and Emily Lord will also go on to NYC to perform, along with other Mom Rockers, at the 4th Annual Mamapalooza concert, at The Cutting Room on May 25th.
The San Francisco Mamapalooza weekend offers two evening performances (Starry Plough, Little Fox) and one-day event at SlimÂs in San Francisco. ÂWe wanted to include one performance that was open to all ages, so that families could attend, explains Petrossi. Tickets are free for children 12 and under at the SlimÂs (http://www.slims-sf.com) event which will also include artwork on display by local mom-artists, a photographer and a filmmaker.
