More about Cancer Pain: Your Guide to Relief™

Cancer patients fear the pain associated with their disease and its treatment. Up to 90% of cancer patients experience pain. This evaluation is designed to HealthMark understand what cancer patients and caregivers need to know about pain management and how this computer-based program helps them address the multiple aspects of pain management.

An interactive pain tool facilitates reporting pain to the health care team and helps patients track their pain levels and relief over time. Twelve printable fact sheets cover topics such as pain management during hospitalization, finding a pain specialist, and building trust with a doctor. Additionally there are 35 printable medication fact sheets that cover 220 medications for pain and other side effects.

The CD-ROM is narrated with supporting graphics to make the information accessible to users with a range of education levels. This interactive CD-ROM provides information on cancer pain management, including: possible causes of pain; the importance of assessing and describing pain; use of medications; concerns regarding addiction to opioids; complementary methods of pain management, such as acupuncture; and how to work with the medical system to get the best care. Personal stories from patients and their loved ones present the challenges they faced, the knowledge they gained, and how they cope with pain

For those not interested in participating in the evaluation, Cancer Pain: Your Guide to Relief™ can be purchased for $19.95 for a version suitable for individuals and $150 for a multi-user version for organizations. Purchase information is found at http://www.healthmarkmultimedia.com.
