Warm Up Your Winter with Cocoa Bootcamp, February 13-17, 2006.
Cocoa Bootcamp on Tiger 10.4 returns to the Big Nerd Ranch February 13-17, 2006 in conjunction with the popular Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp with instructor Steve Kochan. The Cocoa Bootcamp, taught by Aaron Hillegass, is the premier class in the industry for learning Cocoa programming on Tiger and covers a wide spectrum of topics; from the fundamental controllers and bindings, archiving, helper objects, and frameworks, to more advanced features such as OpenGL, Core Data, XCode 2.1 and NSTextView.
Students looking to get the most out of the class should have a background in Java or C++ programming. By offering the Objective-C Mini-Bootcamp the weekend prior to the Cocoa Bootcamp, the Big Nerd Ranch allows students the opportunity to get a jump-start on the class by mastering Objective-C in Steve Kochan's comprehensive two-day class. While Objective-C is part of the Cocoa Bootcamp, students who take the mini-bootcamp will learn how to take their newly-found knowledge to a higher level in Cocoa.
Aaron Hillegass, Cocoa Bootcamp instructor, remarked, "Students investing in the two classes together will find themselves ahead of the game. Not only will they come out of Steve's class with a deep understanding of Objective-C programming, they will be perfectly poised to maximize their experience in the Cocoa Bootcamp. Concepts will fall more readily into place and they will emerge from the seven days confident in their abilities to apply what they've learned in a real-time setting."
Students attending the class will find an updated and streamlined syllabus that optimizes the five days of instruction. Participants will use Mr. Hillegass's well-known work, Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X, as the primary textbook in addition to a reference CD that contains slides and examples of code used in class. The depth and breadth of Mr. Hillegass's knowledge allows for flexibility in the five days of classes, depending on the skill levels of students attending the class. Attendees are encouraged to bring work to class in order to receive guidance in resolving challenges they may be experiencing.
