This holiday season, consumers who enjoy dining out and shopping online can realize as much as 60-percent savings at more than 6,500 independent restaurants nationwide with dining certificates from Restaurant.com (http://www.Restaurant.com).
“Our system allows consumers to stretch their holiday spending and encourages people to treat themselves, family members and friends to new dining experiences they might not have considered,” said Cary Chessick, president and CEO of Restaurant.com. “Thousands of unique restaurants and hundreds of thousands of menu items are available across the country at friendly prices that won’t break the bank.”
Restaurant.com visitors search through a national database of restaurants and browse for appealing places to eat by state, city, neighborhood, zip code and cuisine. Search results reveal unique Web pages of participating restaurants and include descriptions of menu items, hours of operation, neighborhood locale and other details to help diners make informed selections.
After choosing a restaurant through the Web site, visitors can purchase, print and present dining certificates that offer significant savings and value. Many Restaurant.com restaurants offer $25 dining certificates that are available for $10. Diners print Restaurant.com certificates from their own computers and present them upon arrival at the restaurant, which are honored and validated on-site.

Last year, one in 10 Americans celebrated Thanksgiving Day by dining out, according to the National Restaurant Association. Eight percent of Americans went out to eat on Christmas Eve and 13 percent of them visited new and favorite eateries on New Year’s Eve.
“Throughout the busy holiday season, convenience and value are paramount for consumers with limited time, sizable gift lists and fixed expenses. Visiting Restaurant.com, allows people to select a restaurant, print a dining certificate and experience affordable, first-rate food—all in the same night,” said Chessick.
During the fourth quarter of 2004, consumers spent more than $21.5 billion on retail e-commerce purchases, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This year, U.S. online shopping carts are expected to fill up during the holiday season with an estimated $26 billion, says Forrester Research.
