Nalpeiron’s PRO-Tector Flash™ Software Developer’s Kit enables the secure transmission of files, applications and media, locking the content to the Flash memory stick so that only the holder of the key can read or use the contents.
While other solutions on the market are vendor-specific and rely on encryption, Nalpeiron’s patent pending security software technology converts any standard Flash drive to a security device in a few seconds by running a special utility on the memory card. After conversion, files and applications can be transferred to the memory card or installed onto a PC and will be controlled by a license file securely stored in the Flash memory. The conversion process leaves the card’s storage space and memory intact.
PRO-Tector Flash™ will let content owners, intellectual property creators, service providers and mobile network operators offer consumers security software for safe entertainment, gaming and other content. Through its industry partners, Nalpeiron has already signed contracts with US government departments for the product. It is negotiating further contracts with other government customers, along with Flash memory manufacturers, application vendors and content providers.
Perfect for both USB keys and Flash memory within cell phones, PRO-Tector Flash™ security software is flexible enough to support a broad range of business models. It also contains extra features designed to create revenue-enhancing business opportunities and protect intellectual property. The license file can control content subscriptions offering single-purchase, pay-per-time, demos and pay-per-use models.
The first application of the new security software technology is in replacing old-fashioned security dongles found on software applications. Dongles typically contain just a few kilobytes of memory, whereas Flash™ cards can contain hundreds of megabytes. The high volume production of Flash cards makes them less expensive than proprietary dongle equipment for protecting intellectual property.
