As an attestation of its status as the only core Technology PR firm in Nigeria, PMM Ventures-Nigeria has been signed-up by VIA Technologies Inc of Taiwan as External Communications and PR representative in Nigeria; making it the first PR firm in Africa to relate with the global chip maker.
In a unique way to mark its fourth year in the novel path of Technology PR business in Nigeria, PMM Ventures Nigeria (trading as Private Media Mart) recently announced its current status as PR and External Communications representative for VIA Technologies Inc. Taiwan. The deal, which was stuck late November, is to be the very first time that VIA, which is a world acclaimed leader in Computer chip sets and related materials, would engage the services of any marketing communications firm in Africa.
According to the Managing Partner and CEO of PMM Ventures, Mr. Ejiofor Agada, the firm’s level of specialization only on core technology brands, products and services sets it apart from other players in the Nigerian market. “When we first encountered VIA a couple of months ago, they were highly impressed with the level of understanding we had shown on issues pertaining to publicity management for technology brands and that was when we commenced the relationship” he said.
For VIA, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions including next-generation leading edge processors, the decision to start its African Operations in Nigeria unlike most global brands, is due to the importance of the country to its numerous projects including the VIA PC-1 initiative. This was further demonstrated when VIA’s International Marketing Specialist, Werner Du Plessis made a fact-finding visit to the country recently.
From inception in 2002, PMM Ventures has gained respect in its identified area of operation albeit with major strength even within the very low budget IT market. By defining its business as strictly Media Relations, Publicity and Research for Technology brands alone, PMM’s intention was to create a niche image for its activities that would be perceived as different from conventional PR practice in the country. In addition to that, the outfit’s intention was to leverage on its wealth of experience in the Media and advance superior value proposition for technology firms interested in reactionary PR programs. It also was positioned as a source of reliable local technology industry Market Intelligence for intending and existing investors.
It was due to all these attributes that VIA Technologies decided to engage its services for the Nigerian market, and possibly for the English-speaking sub-region as soon as the market grows. In the words of Agada, “what VIA has done is another attestation and endorsement of our specialist stance as core Technology PR experts in Nigeria”.
PMM Ventures will be bringing to bear its wealth of experience servicing such companies as Signal Alliance Group, Progenics Corp. Ltd, SmartPAY Limited, AITEC Nigeria, GoGSM.Net, Stylecom Consulting Nigeria, New Concept Systems Ltd, Oracle (African Operations), Juniper Solutions Limited (JUNISAT), Computer Warehouse Group and Interswitch Nigeria Limited.
