The UK based Mobile and Wireless Group (owners of eXpansys, Portix and Mobile Planet) today announced that they have acquired the trade and assets of Acson Ltd, which traded under the ORA brand name. MWG was named as the UK’s 7th fastest growing private company recently in The Sunday Times ‘Fastrack 100’ survey (4th December 2005).
The acquisition will help to expand MWG’s growing mobile device and wireless distribution business both in the UK and USA. MWG has forecast turnover of $200m in 2006 of which over $50m will be in distribution.
The ORA business will be rolled into MWG’s existing Portix distribution subsidiary and the brand name will head a new MWG own-brand accessory range to be distributed through Portix and through other Group businesses. ORA will immediately benefit from MWG’s state of the art warehousing, logistics and software development facilities. Portix will endeavour to maintain all existing customer, supplier and partner relationships and is actively seeking new partners of all kinds for the combined business.
Steve Muttram, MD of Portix, the distribution business of Mobile and Wireless Group said “We are delighted to be completing this deal to bring together ORA and Portix, I’m sure that our respective strengths and complimentary product portfolios will allow sustained growth in the combined business.“
Mobile and Wireless Group Limited, a company based in Manchester, England is the leading worldwide specialist distributor of mobile technology which owns eXpansys, Mobile Planet and Portix. With offices in the UK, US, Europe and Asia, MWG serves customers in over 140 different countries.
