LIAM Giles and Elwyn Davies are the faces of a growing e-business industry in Wales - young, ambitious - and so confident of their service they are prepared to offer clients a money back guarantee.

The pair are partners of SpinDogs, a website design company based in the WDA @Wales building in Cardiff Bay – a ‘digital hothouse’ for new Welsh IT businesses.

SpinDogs offer a range of website-related packages, including content management, search engine optimisation and design.

The two-year-old company has already secured a wealth of high profile clients, including NFU Cymru, Blue Arrow Recruitment and the top British basketball team, the Birmingham Bullets.

Liam, 24, and Elwyn, 23, met while studying product design at UWIC.

The talented duo were already working on outside projects in their final year of university, and, after graduating on Friday, June 15, 2004, they set up in their own offices the following Monday.

“We had a great response throughout our first year,” said Liam, who plays rugby for first division Newbridge, “and when SpinDogs moved in to the @Wales building we had the opportunity to gain even more clients, and break into the national market.”

The company also offers a website accessibility service - helping to adapt company websites for disabled users - as well as graphic design packages and website development.

SpinDogs’ flagship service is search engine optimisation (SEO), helping clients to improve their rankings in popular internet search sites.

Confidence in the quality of their service has led SpinDogs to introduce a money-back guarantee to all prospective customers if their company’s ranking is not improved over 12 months.

Liam said: “SEO is a time consuming and often costly practice. We wanted to reassure customers that if there is no improvement on their current rankings they can have a full refund.”

Liam and Elwyn say their backgrounds in design will also help in developing and diversifying the SpinDogs brand.

“Product development is an area we are keen to move into in the future – we want to help establish this field in Wales.”

SpinDogs took on their first employee, technical manager David Morgan, 23, last July, and with corporate endorsements, and a charitable partnership with Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, the future looks encouraging.

Liam said: “We are confident that we can continue to rival Wales’ top web design companies, and that SpinDogs itself will become a flagship Welsh business.
