Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) May 10, 2006
Atlassian Software Systems today announced its newest release of Confluence, the enterprise wiki. Confluence 2.2 introduces some outstanding features for wiki users such as personal spaces, support for internationalisation, CAPTCHA spam protection, dozens of new extension points for plugin developers, and more.
Dubbed "best overall enterprise wiki," Confluence was awarded a 2006 Editor's Choice and a Well-Connected award by Network Computing. Over 1,200 organisations in more than 45 countries have selected Confluence for collaboration and knowledge management, including such name brands as Accenture, Boeing, BMW, Cisco, Deutsche Bank, MIT, Pixar, and United Nations.
A much-requested feature, Confluence 2.2 introduces Personal Spaces, giving each user the ability to host their own blog and wiki within the Confluence server. Personal spaces allow an enterprise to extend the potential of the wiki to every member of the organisation, all integrated with Confluence's powerful tools for producing, organising, securing and sharing knowledge.
Confluence 2.2 now provides a fully internationalised web interface through drop-in language packs, allowing each user to choose their preferred interface language. Along with language packs, over 30 new and useful plugins are now available that extend the functionality of Confluence. The complete plugin library, which offers over 125 plugins, can be found at http://www.atlassian.com/c/PR-C/11243/confluenceplugins.
Other improvements in Confluence 2.2 include CAPTCHA support to prevent automated spam on public sites, improved search performance and accuracy, streamlined configuration file syntax for the user management library, improved permissioning protocols for anonymous and logged-in users, and faster performance for external LDAP repositories.
