While it may be lonely at the top for some, ParetoLogic’s founder and CFO, Elton Pereira, is happy with the company he keeps. Recently named one of Vancouver Island’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Times Colonist and Copeland Communications, Elton shares his accomplishment with ParetoLogic co-founders Adrian Pereira and Don Wharton and credits his family and staff with helping them to make ParetoLogic a resounding success. “ParetoLogic has always been a team effort. What began as a family project has grown to be a thriving corporation. The addition of many talented and dedicated individuals has resulted in a strong team and strong growth for ParetoLogic. This award is a great honour for me and for every member of our company,” States Pereira.

Pereira has good reason to be proud. His company, ParetoLogic, has exploded onto the High-Tech scene in the last two years. The recent recipient of VIATeC’s 2006 Emerging Tech Company of the Year award as well VIATeC’s CEO of the Year award, ParetoLogic was also nominated as a finalist for the Victoria Chamber of Commerce Company of the Year Award. Pereira’s success is a blatant rebuttal to any assertions that success in the High-Tech industry is dependent on location. This is the story of a small town boy done good...

Born and bred in Victoria, B.C., Elton Pereira eschewed conventional assumptions that successful competition in the high tech market cannot be achieved from a small community. Taking the industry by storm with the meteoric success of his company, ParetoLogic, Elton has steered the company to phenomenal growth. Realizing astounding revenue of $3.5 million in its first year to $7.0 million in its second year, ParetoLogic’s staffing has increased from 6 employees to 60 during the first half of 2006. Securing prestigious partnerships, ParetoLogic’s products are available in 62 countries and in 8 different languages across the world, effectively putting Victoria on the map in the high tech community.

A Bachelor of Commerce degree from UVIC, and professional designations in Certified Financial Planning and Professional Financial Planning, equipped Elton with the tools required to succeed in the financial industry, but it was his drive and passion that led to his phenomenal success and acclaim. Earning 3 consecutive CIBC Annual Achievers Awards for providing exceptional financial advice and service to over 300 high net worth clients, Elton managed $60 million in assets while employed at CIBC.

Not content to ride the wave of his success in the financial industry, Elton chose to leave his lucrative career behind and plunge into the uncertain field of High Tech, developing and marketing an Internet security software application that was embraced by the Internet community. In partnership with family members, Elton incorporated ParetoLogic in 2004, committed to providing the very best Internet security solutions possible to computer users.

Elton’s dedication to his company and his employees is evident in his active participation in the daily functions of the company and his initiatives to foster employee satisfaction and productivity. Despite the runaway growth in revenue and staffing, Elton maintains a family atmosphere at ParetoLogic, expressing interest and support in the lives of each of his employees. This consideration, uncommon in today’s business atmosphere, is reciprocated by Elton’s employees who exhibit a strong loyalty and respect for him, and is amply reflected in every ParetoLogic employee’s commitment to exemplary product development and customer service.

Elton’s concern for the well-being of his employees is mirrored in his concern for his community. A regular and generous contributor to charities such as the Canadian Hunger Foundation, UNICEF, and The Children’s Hospital, Elton consistently shows integrity and congruency between his words and his actions. A respected member of the Better Business Bureau and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce which honoured ParetoLogic by naming them as a finalist for the 2006 Business of the Year Award, Elton’s determination to enrich the Victoria business community and benefit the community at large is evident. Active membership in VIATeC, who recently named ParetoLogic “The Emerging Technology Company of the Year” for 2006, and close ties with UVIC IT research departments demonstrates Elton’s fierce passion for advancing the High Tech industry in Victoria.

Elton Pereira is an inspiration for every person who dreams of setting their own course without compromising their loyalty to their community. Elton believed in his family, his employees and his community and in doing so has contributed to the prosperity and recognition of Victoria’s considerable IT talent.
