PlatformOne Completes Successful Transition to its Comprehensive HRO Services for Business Advantage in Ninety Days

PlatformOne today announced that another client, Business Advantage, Inc., has gone live with PlatformOne’s comprehensive HR outsourcing solutions for technology, services and support. The rapid deployment of PlatformOne’s integrated set of HR services, including payroll, benefits and HR administration, has played an important role in the successful transition of Business Advantage, Inc. to its new business model.

PlatformOne today announced that another client, Business Advantage, Inc., has gone live with PlatformOne’s comprehensive HR outsourcing solutions for technology, services and support. PlatformOne offers HR Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) solutions to mid-market companies, those companies with approximately 500 to 15,000 employees.

The rapid deployment of PlatformOne’s integrated set of HR services, including payroll, benefits and HR administration, has played an important role in the successful transition of Business Advantage, Inc. to its new business model.

Stanley R. Joseph, President & CEO of Business Advantage, Inc. explained the transformation of his business in a letter to his clients and internal employees in July.

“Over the past several years, Business Advantage has gone through some major changes in its business model,” said Joseph. “Change often times creates challenges which necessitate adjustments in staff, business processes and systems. Beginning approximately one year ago, our management team recognized that a new technology platform was necessary to meet the demands associated with the changes occurring in our business. At that time, our evaluation team began a six-month process of reviewing numerous potential solutions. By April of this year, it was clear that one solution, from PlatformOne, stood well above the competition.”

Previously, the information systems Business Advantage used were so insufficient they were impeding the company’s growth and its ability to deliver its professional services to its clients and their employees. Its systems were inflexible, and could not respond to immediate client needs, such as reporting. Also, the lack of systems integration was forcing a huge, unnecessary workload on the Business Advantage office personnel. Reconciling information across various systems was an every day task.

“PlatformOne was selected in April, and since that time our staff has been working on testing and implementing our new system. Beginning in May, we began running payroll,” Joseph continued. “Not surprisingly, we had a few ‘hiccups.’ But the end result will be worth it. The new solution offers not only increased functionality, but also more importantly, complete system integration between payroll, tax, benefits, HR, reporting, customer relationship management and scheduling systems. In short, we will reduce six unique systems down to one. Additionally, this system was designed with numerous quality control tools not available in our previous system. It is for these reasons that we are extremely confident in our ability to increase accuracy and improve our overall customer service.”

The transition project required a complete conversion of payroll, benefits and HR data records, from various in-house systems and vendors such as Paychex, to an integrated HR information system that PlatformOne provides, hosts and manages on behalf of Business Advantage. Automated data links were established with each of the four benefits plan providers, as well as to the Business Advantage financial systems from Lawson, which are also provided through the contract with PlatformOne. PlatformOne personnel managed and executed the project, with Business Advantage contributing a project coordinator who interfaced with the PlatformOne implementation team and insured the availability and accuracy of existing data records. The project was complete inside of ninety (90) days.

Joseph went on to describe the benefits of the PlatformOne solution that his clients would enjoy. “Over the next several weeks, you will receive further updates outlining the features and improvements associated with our new web enabled system. This system will allow all employees to go on-line, view pay-stubs, year-to-date payroll information, benefit elections and more. They will be able to make certain changes themselves, thereby minimizing errors. Additionally, clients will be able to enter payroll information, make changes, and approve directly.”

After implementing the full suite of Lawson applications, Business Advantage personnel experienced, for the first time, what integrated HR, benefits, payroll, billing and financial systems can do. Real time and accurate data, remote client access, and flexible reporting all contribute to labor cost savings and improved customer service.

As a result, today Business Advantage outsources its full HR, benefits and payroll administration workload to PlatformOne, and it focuses its attention on client care, more strategic services, and marketing its professional services to the next small business entrepreneur. Shortly after the technology platform “go live”, the two companies signed a second agreement, which customized a specific scope of HR services unique to the needs of Business Advantage. In addition to outsourcing execution of its payroll, benefits and HR administration functions, Business Advantage also gains access to HR expertise that handles compliance with growing HR regulations.

HRO services will save Business Advantage 30% to 40% from the operating budget, based on company projections of in-house costs to deliver similar services. Savings will be realized by avoiding costly investments in HR technology and infrastructure, by minimizing HR staff labor costs, and by eliminating fees from multiple HR outsourcing and software systems vendors used in the past.
