Available to the public for the first time are Ms. Masi’s personal ‘Marilyn Collection’ of beautifully matted and framed photographs that were meticulously reproduced as limited editions and available to collect. Ms. Masi’s collection of exquisite jewelry worn by Marilyn Monroe in various movies and public appearances as well as clothing will be on display. Ms Masi will be on hand to share her priceless memories of living with legendary icon, Marilyn Monroe.
Dolores’ father, Chic Masi, and Joe DiMaggio were life-long friends. Their friendship, which dates back to their childhood in New York and San Francisco, later blossomed into a business partnership in Los Angeles. Dolores was a young girl when the Masi home provided a sanctuary for Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio in Sherman Oaks, California. Marilyn became an honorary member of the Masi household, where she would stay for long periods of time. It did not take long before Dolores thought of Marilyn as her big sister, her aunt and her best friend.
During their years together Dolores was the fortunate recipient of jewelry and clothing from Marilyn’s movie wardrobe and personal closet. Having cherished her memories and protected these items for nearly 50 years, Dolores feels it is time to share them with the world. Her keepsakes, along with never-before-seen photographs of the star, comprise ‘The Dolores Hope Masi Marilyn Collection’.
The October 11th gala will showcase Ms. Masi’s “Marilyn Collection’ of original keepsakes, which include the bracelet and earrings Marilyn wore in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” the black chiffon blouse from “Asphalt Jungle,” as well as recently released family home video of Chic Masi giving Marilyn some tips on playing golf.
Along with her decision to unveil her personal collection, Ms. Masi has commissioned the finest designers and manufacturers to authentically recreate a select few of her keepsakes. To reflect the luxury of these items, a numbered ‘Diamond Edition’ of the original jewelry will be re-created using the highest quality diamonds, in platinum or 18 KT gold. The original photographs are also reproduced as a limited edition, giclee prints on acid-free museum paper, beautifully matted and framed. All inspired pieces are available for purchase through Art de Vignettes Fashion Show, Art de Vignettes Too Henderson or online at http://www.artdevignettes.com.
