NexGym gets kids off the couch and into the gym by combining video gaming, virtual reality and interactive games with healthy activity. Popular with kids and their parents, NexGym expands to open second location in North Texas, just in time for the New Year.

NexGym (http://www.NexGym.com), the innovative new fitness club for kids, announced today that it will open a second location in Plano, Texas, just in time for the New Year.

With child obesity rates at their highest, the necessity for children's fitness has never been so great. But in an age of computers and video games, how do you lure children and teens into the world of healthy exercise?

"NexGym makes it simple," says NexGym Plano Co-Owners John and Dawn Daley. "By combining video gaming and virtual reality with healthy activity, kids don't even know they're 'exercising.' They just know they're having fun." It's a healthy pattern of activity the NexGym team hopes will last a lifetime for the children who are part of their gym.

NexGym opened its first location in Southlake, Texas in May 2006, originally under the name Energym. The growing need for fun kids' fitness options coupled with the success of the Southlake gym has fueled demand for a second NexGym in North Texas, with plans to open additional franchises in 2007.

To celebrate its expansion to Plano, NexGym will kick off 2007 with a New Year's Eve party just for kids, providing Plano parents with a night out while their children experience the latest in "exergaming" and other high-energy fitness activities, including dodgeball, Dance Dance Revolution and sport wall relays. A pizza dinner and refreshments will be served.

The NexGym New Year's Eve party/parents' night out will be held at the Plano NexGym, located at 5964 W. Parker Road, Suite 108, adjacent to MyTime Women's Fitness at the corner of Dallas North Tollway and Parker Road. Parents may choose between two New Year's Eve sessions. The first is from 5p.m. - 9p.m., and the second will run from 9:30p.m. - 1:30a.m. The event is open to children 3-14 years of age, with age-appropriate fitness activities for all kids. Young children must be potty-trained. Each session costs $49. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 972.781.2244.

NexGym Plano will open for regular gym hours beginning January 2, 2007. Club hours are Monday through Friday, 8a.m. - 8p.m and Saturdays 8a.m. - 4p.m. Birthday parties are available Saturdays 4:30p.m. - 9p.m. and Sundays 12noon - 7p.m. A grand opening celebration is in the works for late January.
