Want to open a Bed and Breakfast in Iowa? Don't miss this educational opportunity - Marketing Professional Amelia Painter, and the Iowa Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association, have joined forces and compiled a comprehensive guidebook full of the information needed to fill an inn with guests. The book "Opening a Bed and Breakfast in the 21st Century" will be premiered at the 21st Annual IBBIA Conference where innkeeping professionals will separate the romantic notions of owning a B&B from the business side. Both the conference workshops and the book will provide new and experienced B&B owners with strategies for success.

It just got easier for innkeepers to master the skills needed for a successful bed and breakfast business. Recognizing the business challenges innkeepers face on a daily basis, the Iowa Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association (IBBIA),, dedicated their energies and resources to developing business strategies for innkeepers. "IBBIA created an Innkeeping Education Program for today's business climate, stated Mary Nichols, IBBIA President. As the current business pace has gotten faster and more complex, we wanted to design an effective and simpler way to manage these challenges."

This new educational program gets a jump-start at the organization's 21st Annual Conference, held this year in Ames, Iowa, at the Union Memorial Hall on the campus at Iowa State University. The program features Amelia Painter, nationally recognized Internet professional, author, and a respected bed and breakfast observer and writer. As a staff writer for the Bed & Breakfast American magazine, she is nationally known throughout the bed and breakfast industry, and has taken her 25+ years of marketing experience and dedicated it toward providing Internet marketing, Web, and PR services for bed and breakfast inns.

"Painter is the featured speaker at the two-day conference held this year on February 18 & 19, 2007. "All innkeepers can benefit from her inspiring, down-to-earth presentations," stated Esther Hoffa, Conference Chair. Her topics include: Innkeeping Basics 101 and Marketing your inn on the Internet. Painter's latest book, "Opening and Operating a Bed & Breakfast in the 21st Century," will be premiered at the conference. The book is a Step-by-Step Guide to Innkeeping Success with Professional Online Marketing Strategies, it can be purchased online at

Additional presentations will include: How to present a wine tasting at your B&B, Speed Cleaning techniques, tips on simplifying hearty breakfasts, insurance updates, and much more.

Attendees will spend two days immersed in the bed and breakfast industry. This informative and inspirational event is a rare chance to learn what it takes in this age of technology to operate a quality and highly successful bed and breakfast inn.

The public is invited to sign-up and attend Painter's Aspiring Innkeeper Session on Sunday February 18, 2007 from 1pm to 4:30pm where Painter and special guest speakers will explain how aspiring innkeepers should approach the decision to become an innkeeper and assess their ability to enter the profession, then move into the critical aspects of operating an inn on a daily basis. "We've worked hard to keep the price for Aspiring and New Innkeepers as low as possible," said Hoffa. "This is an educational opportunity every person considering the ownership of a B&B needs to take advantage of -- we are offering business-oriented courses, or workshops if you prefer, in B&B management to the public at this year's conference."
