Lymeware Introduces First LSB 3.0 Certified Application

One Linux binary package can now support current and future LSB distributions.

Lymeware Corporation, an innovative provider of telecom and security software solutions, today announced that it had achieved Linux Standard Base (LSB) 3.0 Application Certification for its market leading IAgent3 Interactive Agent security product on four of the most popular Linux chipsets.

The LSB standard, now managed by the Linux Foundation, is designed to provide binary application portability between Linux distributions and allow Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) the ability to focus their development on a single unified Linux operating system standard, supported by all the major Linux distributors. This single standard allows them to reach a much wider customer market more quickly and with much less development effort and resources.

"We were actually the first vendor to receive LSB Application Certification in 2005" declared Michael Kobar, the chief technology officer for Lymeware. "And we really wanted to leverage some of the new LSB 3.0 improvements, including enhanced C++ support and backwards compatibility of both the source and binary levels."

Lymeware has been involved with open standards for over ten years and is the first company to be awarded LSB 3.0 Application certification. Lymeware received this certification on the ia32/Intel x86, the ppc32/PowerPC, the ppc64/PowerPC, and the S/390X mainframe platforms. The new secure messaging Interactive Agent (IA) product now supports all LSB 3.0 and newer Linux distributions (currently 11 commercial distributions) on any of these platforms.

The Lymeware IAgent3 product is a fully functional implementation of the Telecommunications Industry Forum (TCIF) Electronic Communications Interactive Agent, which allows secure EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transactions over insecure or public networks (including the Internet) with strong encryption, using open security standards.

The Interactive Agent protocol is the U.S. telecommunications industry standard integration interface for wholesale ordering and pre-ordering of services and network elements, and is supported by all of the major Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs).

The commerce-class IAgent3 product gives Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) and Cable companies (MSOs) the ability to communicate with all the major ILEC electronic ordering and provisioning systems using a single protocol and a single operation support system (OSS) or billing system interface.

In addition to the LSB 3.0 support, the new IAgent3 release also adds SOAP interface support, support for multiple simultaneous back-end interfaces, mixed IAP v2 and v3 support, improved thread handling, enhanced transaction performance, a better logging facility, and new 64-bit CPU support.
