Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 4, 2007
Mobile Metrics announced the immediate availability of a significant extension to the world's first commercial test system for WiMAXTM ASN Gateways and CSNs, the Torrent 7100 WTS. The 2.0 release of the Torrent 7100 adds Proxy Mobile IP support, update of its Client Mobile IP implementation to the March 2007 NWG specifications, and the ability to test conformance of customer equipment against the new NWG specifications.
"When we released the 7100 in September 2006, our goal was to help accelerate the deployment of commercial WiMAX test systems and help equipment manufacturers focus more on their core business of system development, and we feel very fortunate to have been able to do that," said Asa Atallah, CEO of Mobile Metrics, Inc.
The Torrent 7100 WTS provides traffic and conformance testing of the ASN (Access Service Network) Gateway and the CSN (Connectivity Service Network). A partner variant, the Torrent 7200 WTS, tests WiMAX Base Stations for R6 conformance as well as traffic testing over R1. Mobile Metrics will introduce the Torrent 7200 at CTIA 2007.
The 2.0 release of the Torrent 7100 includes the following capabilities:
- ASN Profile A and C support
- CMIP and PMIP support
- Network Entry with single EAP
- Initial service flow activation
- Full dataplane support (IP CS)
- Network Exit
- R6 Handover
- R4 / R6 mixed mobility Handover
- R3 Relocation (with Auth Relocation)
- Uncontrolled Handover
- Multi-target Handover
- Dynamic Key Distribution
- Location Update
- Radio Resource Management
- Idle Mode
- Patent-pending Filtering Layer for writing user or built-in conformance testcases
"Mobile Metrics' theme is 'First. Focused. Flexible.', and the Torrent 7100 fits that description," said Cecil Taylor, Vice-President of Sales and Product Management. "The 7100 was first to market, and we're showing WiMAX leadership with webinars, standards involvement, and the most advanced WiMAX test system in its class. The 7100 emerges from our company's specialized focus on wireless data. Finally, the new features, including the patent-pending filtering layer, enhance the tool's flexibility and programmability. Our Torrent software is flexible enough to run on any Linux-based PC, so our customers can quickly ride the technology curve for greater performance."
Mobile Metrics offers a powerful mobile traffic simulator, the MTS-7100, which operates as a combined Mobile Station and Base Station, communicating over R6 to ASN Gateways under test or to the Torrent's ASN-7100 simulator. The MTS-7100 realistically simulates a wide variety of protocols such as HTTP, WAP, MMS, PTT, MIP, SIP, RTCP, RTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, TCP, UDP, ICMP, DNS, EAP, and RADIUS. Other nodes in the Torrent suite include the CSN-7100 (CSN simulator) and NTS-7100 (network traffic simulator).
The entire system is operated from a GUI interface on the CS-7100 control node. Testcases are easily configured and initiated from the GUI. Test results are accurately characterized with high-resolution histograms and over 450 hierarchically organized statistics. The Torrent platform includes sophisticated remote debugging capability and other diagnostics to make sure Mobile Metrics' personnel can respond quickly to any issues or questions regarding the product, the system under test, or the network environment.
