Great Chicago Italian Recipes website has just included a special section created to preserve Italian-American heritage. This section will include stories, photos and documentation of Italian families who immigrated to the United States and settled into various Little Italy neighborhoods around the country.

Manticor Corporation's President and founder, Phillip J. Speciale announced today the creation of an "Italian-American Heritage Preservation" section on his new website http://www.great-chicago-italian-recipes.com.

Phil began the website with the intension of sharing and preserving family recipes but as it progressed he realized that as generations pass, traditions aren't maintained and stories get lost. So as he states, "I've tried to instill in my children the importance of knowing where you came from and the importance of carrying on family traditions, so I decided to create this section to build a community, a place where people can leave a piece of their family history."

In a day and age where everything moves so fast, it's nice to be able to stop from time to time and reflect on the history of our culture. Along with this section, Phil has posted around one-hundred and twenty-five recipes from family and friends in an astounding five month period.

"The site is new," he says, "but thanks to the many contributors and family members who have sent me their favorite recipes, I was able to build the site quicker than most. There are many Italian recipe sites out there, but instead of just giving my guests a recipe, I like to relate it to a story or an idea. I think that is a more creative and fun approach than just writing down a recipe and sending it off."

Regarding our Italian-American heritage, Phil also recommends supporting various organizations that help preserve our history. Organizations like the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, the National Italian American Foundation, The Sons of Italy and the American Italian Historical Association just to name a few. These organizations where established for us to preserve and instill pride in our heritage and to pass it on to our children and our children's children.

Phil also states, "I've always wanted to be a part of something like this and now that my site has given me the opportunity to establish the 'Italian-American Heritage Preservation" section, I'm going see where it goes. I don't expect to build the type of archive Ellis Island has but I do hope it becomes a small part of Italian-American history where people can go and write down their favorite stories of how their families immigrated to this great county."
